Charles Lee Bebout, age 96, of
Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished memories. Born on September 21, 1929, in
New Philadelphia, Ohio, Charles spent much of his childhood in Mechanicstown, where he developed the strong work ethic, sense of community, and love of the outdoors that would guide him throughout his life.
Charles was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1947. Shortly after graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. His military service was a source of great pride and shaped his lifelong values of discipline, dedication, and service to others.
On August 21, 1951, Charles married the love of his life, Deloris (Garner) Bebout. Together they shared an extraordinary 74 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect.
Charles dedicated 32 years of his working life to A&P Grocery Store, where he was known for his reliability, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality. After retiring from A&P, his passion for mentoring and teaching led him to establish the meat processing program at R.G. Drage Career Technical Center. There, he influenced countless students, passing on not only practical skills but also the values of pride in one's work and personal integrity. He later retired from R.G. Drage, leaving behind a lasting legacy in vocational education.
A man of deep faith and community involvement, Charles was a longtime and devoted member of Trinity United Church of Christ. His dedication extended beyond the church as he was also an active member of the Robertsville Grange, Meyer's Lake Sportsman Club, the Canton Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite, and the Tadmor Shriners. Through these organizations, Charles formed lifelong friendships and gave generously of his time and talents.
Charles truly loved the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and square dancing. Whether tending to his garden, sharing stories after a successful hunt, or enjoying music and movement on the dance floor,
Charles embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Randy J. Bebout, whose memory he carried close to his heart.
Charles leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Deloris (Garner) Bebout; his children, Cindy (Rick) Everhart and Brad Bebout; his grandchildren, Rick (Angela) Everhart, Josh (Beverly) Everhart, Jennifer (Ken) Conley, Austin (Hannah) Bebout, and Tori Bebout; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Ty, Cade, Calvin, Taydem, and Sophie. His legacy lives on through each of them, reflected in the values, stories, and love he shared so freely.
