Charles Black Obituary

Charles was born in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on October 23, 1936. He was the son of the late James and Ollie Black. He married the love of his life, Margaret Day Black, enlisted in the Army and moved to Anchorage, Alaska where he established the first gun club in the early 1960's. An avid sportsman, he had a love of the outdoors, fishing, and hunting.
He established himself as a respected engineer and land surveyor. His engineering firm, Charles Black Consulting and Engineers, received accolades, most notably as him being the oldest, practicing land surveyor in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He spent life devoted to his profession, his family and his faith. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Richmond.
Survivors include his son: Daniel Lee Black (Jessica Gies); and granddaughter: Danielle Capri Black.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Black was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Day Black; their son Donald James Black; and brothers Jay, Bill and George Black.
The family has chosen private services. The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
