Charles Bowden Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 12, 2024.
Charles "Charlie" Edward Bowden, 72, of Newaygo unexpectedly passed away on March 10, 2024, at home.
He was born on November 24, 1951, to Charles and Betty (Magiera) Bowden in Detroit, Michigan.
If he wasn't fishing, you'd probably have found Charlie hunting or spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family dearly. He was a great bowler and holds a 300 game in an 810 series. Charlie proudly owned and operated his own flooring company for over 30 years. Lucky Charlie will be missed greatly by all that had the privilege of sharing his friendship.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Margo Bowden; their children, Charles Bowden and Hannah Blakely, Briahna Bowden; grandchildren, Aiden, Aurora, Axel; sisters, Elaine (John) Cassisi, Diane Berent; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Betty Bowden; brother, Richard Bowden.
Charlie's family invites you to the burial of his urn and Military Honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery with a date to be set in later April. Please check back for details.

I went through high school with Chas. We played sports and hung around with a group of guys (jocks). We had great times together. In fact he and I decided to join the army partly due to the fact that his draft number was 13, and mine was 100. We went through basic training at Ft. Knox, and AIT in El Paso , Texas. With a year and a half left on our tour, Chas was sent to Korea, while I shipped out to Germany. I got married while in service and Chas was to be my best man however due to his deployment that didn´t happen. I asked another friend to be his substitute and Bob Shield agreed. After the service we hunted together at my folks cabin in Lewiston for a few years. He was a great friend and a pretty good hunter too! You will be missed my friend, but not forgotten!
