Charles E. Bowe, 78, of Troy, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Born on August 4, 1947, in Ward, West Virginia, Charles was raised in Niagara Falls, New York. He was the son of the late Charles A. Bowe and Anna Pauline (Armstrong) Bowe.
Charles proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bryce Canyon (AD-36) from 1965 to 1968 as an instrument man. After his service, he pursued environmental science at Unity College from 1972 to 1974. His deep love for the outdoors led him to a 32-year career as a Maine Master Fishing Guide, where he shared his passion for nature with countless others.
He was a member of the NRA and the Maine Guide Association and was known for his dedication to conservation and outdoor education. Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, and had a special fondness for animals.
On June 25, 1966, Charles married the love of his life, Cynthia A. Jacobs, in Los Angeles, California. Together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.
Charles is survived by his wife Cynthia; son William C. Bowe and his wife Linda; daughters Ella D. Wright and her husband Roy, and Katherine E. Bowe; grandchildren Steve A. Wright and Patrick Bowe; great-granddaughter Elora; brother Steven Bowe and his wife Alicia; sister Candace Dugan and her husband Kevin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Samuel W. Bowe.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St, Newport ME. A military graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery,163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
Charles will be remembered for his passion and love for family & friends, hunting, fishing and gardening.
