Charles Brann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home - Ellsworth on Jan. 6, 2026.
Lamoine

Charles Linwood Brann Jr, 93, made his journey on December 29, 2025, to be with our mother, Yvonne Elizabeth Cutler Brann, who passed July 15, 2017. He was born on July 2, 1932, the last child to be born in the old birthing home located in Lamoine.

After graduating from Ellsworth High School, he joined the United States Navy. During his service years, he started writing to a woman in Idaho who soon became his wife. His naval career lasted 22 years. He served during the Korean "forgotten war" and various ships. During this time, he was authorized to wear the National Defense, European Occupation, Good Conduct Metal with 5 Stars, United Nationals Medal and Korean War Medal.

After retiring from the Navy, he traveled to Iran where he instructed running the engine rooms aboard ships. Returning home, he was employed by Maine Shellfish where he retired after 17 years. After retiring from their jobs, our parents spent their days working in their gardens. When Dad was not working in his garden, you could find him mowing the back 40 as he called it. He loved the outdoors and took great pride in their home.

Our parents worked tirelessly within the Grange. He was a member of Lamoine Grange #264 for 79 years where he received his 70th year member certificate. Both our parents received all 7 degrees within the Grange and held prominent positions throughout their many years of service.

He and our mother had 4 children, Michael and his wife, Nancy, of Lamoine. William and his wife, Shelly, of Lamoine and their two daughters, Lisa Saunders and Linda Jordan. They were able to live to see their wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren who would often visit.

May the ship always sail, and the sea always be calm.

Private services will be held in the Spring.

Those who desire may contribute in Charles' memory to Maine Veterans' Home Bangor, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401.
