Charles Edward Carter passed away at age 77 peacefully in his sleep on August 18th, 2024. He was the loving husband of Lucille Patricia Carter (Worley) with whom he shared 57 blessed years of marriage. Charles was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Andrew Lee Carter Sr. and Sarah Ruth Carter (Clardy) on April 4th, 1947, the youngest of seven children.
Charles studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses and dedicated himself to Jehovah. He was baptized on September 9th, 1969, at 22 years of age. Charles served as an elder for many years and enjoyed several different privileges in his service to Jehovah. One of the things he treasured was traveling to different countries (Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Mexico) to meet his spiritual brothers and sisters. He also enjoyed bowling, swimming, watching Westerns, taking long naps, and listening to music, especially Ray Charles.
He is survived by his wife Lucille P. Carter and all of his children: La Vette Carter, Sylvia Carter-Naylor (Lloyd), Aaron Carter (Susan), Timothy Carter (Deanica), Stephanie Carter, Michael Carter (Alexis). As well as eight grandchildren Briana Manuel, Ariana Carter, Deontae Carter, Timiya Carter, DeAundre Carter (Bella), Tyler Gibson, Grayson Carter, and Logan Carter, and two great-grandchildren Grayson and Braxton Carter.
Charles is also survived by his brother Robert Carter. He is preceded in death by his parents and other siblings: Elaine Carter, Shirley Benson, Mary Belle Carter, Nellie Bradley, Andrew Lee Carter Jr.
He leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and all his dear Christian brothers and sisters.
Memorial Service Saturday, August 24th, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 11800 Superior Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106
Arrangements entrusted to DeJohn Funeral Home and Crematory of Willoughby Hills.
