Charles Irving Anderson, 78, of Rollag, MN passed away suddenly on Friday, December 6, 2024. "Charlie", the third of four children, born July 29, 1946, to Lloyd and Eunice (Robley) Anderson.
He grew up on the family farm south of Hawley and attended the old Sunny Springs District 11 schoolhouse which was ½ mile from the farm, and he graduated from Hawley High School in 1964.His lifelong passion was farming and he started at the age of 12. He later began a partnership with his brother Glenn.
Charlie drove gravel truck for several years and earned the name, "Side Dump Charlie". He was a member of "WMSTR", where he enjoyed helping out in the horse barn area. He was a member of Rollag Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed.
Charlie was an avid snowmobiler and enjoyed racing. He even won the South Dakota Governor's Cup. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, steak frys in the woods, golf, and also the family’s annual Fourth of July party. He loved meeting with his friends on a daily basis for coffee every morning in town.
Charlie requested to be cremated and have his ashes spread at the family farm.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Lowell Mueller, sister Ellen Nelson and her husband Ralph Nelson and their son Kevin Nelson. He is survived by his sister Marie Mueller, Fargo, brother Glenn (Debbie), Hawley, and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2024, from noon to 1:00 P.M., with a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
