East Bend – Charles “Chuck” Orman Conrad, Jr., 76, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was born June 24, 1947 to the late Charles and Ida Slater Conrad. Chuck loved his family beyond any words that could be printed. He worked at RJR Packaging for 36 plus years. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves Baseball, Duke Basketball, and Kansas City Chiefs Football. Chuck had a love for his farm, and raised many calves to become cows and enjoyed driving his Kubota tractor to work the land and play in the fields. His most important work was loving his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, what a love and joy they brought to his life. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his grandson, Logan Doub; father-in-law, Bud Hobson; mother-in-law, Nell Stewart and husband Bobby. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cathy Hobson Conrad; son, Chip Conrad and wife Michelle; daughter, Carla Conrad Grimes and husband Jody; grandchildren, Jordan Doub and wife Kenzie, Allie Conrad, Grenley Grimes (Jack Triplett), Samantha Black, Cheyenne Black (Tim McCann), Rain Caudle and husband Dean, Summer Wolfe and husband J; great grandkids, Declan Doub, Dallas Doub, Isabella Caudle; sisters, Freida Bostic and husband Robert, Sue Ellen Cockerham; step mother-in-law, Della Hobson; brother-in-law, Rex Hobson; sister-in-law, Vickie Hendrix and husband Steve; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Tony Griffin. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Gentry Family Chapel in East Bend. Memorials can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 243 N. Lee Ave., Yadkinville, NC 27055. Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend is serving the Conrad family. Online condolences can be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
