Ruby Murphy, of East Bend, passed away on the 7th of March, 2026. She was born on January 6th, 1941, to the late “Lat” and Lesta Hennings. Ruby was a very active member of Stony Knoll United Methodist Church and dedicated her time to serving her Lord and the church community. She loved being active and playing softball and basketball. Ruby also loved traveling to new locations and shopping for herself and others. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard “Rich” Murphy; brothers, Paul and Grady Hennings; and sister, Ruth Wooten. Ruby is survived by her children, Jennifer (David) Phillips, Heather (Brent) Russell; grandchildren, Courtney (Tony) Page, Austin (Dina) Phillips, Jacob (Megan Ayres) Russell, Ethan (Olivia) Russell; great-grandchildren, Raylee Page, Rhodes Phillips, Mae Marie Russell; brothers, Alvis (Jane) Hennings, Joe (Annette) Hennings; and sister-in-law, Peggy (Larry) Hauser.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, from 1:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M at Stony Knoll United Methodist Church. The funeral service will take place following the visitation at 2:00 P.M in the chapel. Burial will follow the funeral service in the church cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mechelle Harrison for the loving care, compassion and companionship she showed while caring for our mama each day. Your kindness meant so much to our family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Stony Knoll United Methodist Church or to Mountain Valley Hospice of Yadkinville. The staff of Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend will be serving the Murphy family.
