Charles Harold Nelson was born on February 7, 1939 to Roy and Ruth (Barclay) Nelson in Cazenovia, Minnesota. Chuck grew up in Pipestone, Minnesota. He enlisted in the United States Navy, and while enlisted he earned his GED. Chuck was blessed with two children, Debra and Mark. Chuck passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Riverview Healthcare Center in Flandreau, South Dakota at 86 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Chuck was a member of Long Beach Masons and the Goldwing Club in Southern California. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and communicating on Hamm radios. He had a love for his horses and spending time with them.
Chuck is survived by his life partner, Alice Garza; his children, Debra (John) Freeman of Watauga, Tennessee, Mark (Alison) Nelson of Vance, Alabama; grandchildren, Theresa Campbell, Elizabeth Freeman, Christopher Nelson; great-grandchildren, Gavin Campbell, Zachary Campbell, Josie Nelson and Gavin Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and grand-daughter Ryan Nelson.
