Charles “Chuck” W. Pfaff, age 73, of Sandwich, IL, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on July 3, 1950, in Hinsdale, IL, to Vinson and Hilda (Schultz) Pfaff.
Chuck was a 1968 graduate of Naperville Community High School. In his younger years, you would catch him drag racing in his car “Sundown” at the Oswego Dragstrip. He was a long-time member of the Sandwich Early Day Engine Club. Chuck enjoyed collecting hit-and-miss gas engines and attending engine shows with his wife, Marcy. He also showed his hit-and-miss gas engines every year at The Sandwich Fair. In recent years, he loved putzing around with his gas engine models. He loved most being a Papa and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was united in marriage to Marcy Rott on December 29, 1979, in Naperville, IL. They recently celebrated 44 years of marriage with their yearly trip to Red Lobster.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife, Marcy Pfaff, and his 6 children; Shannon (Brett) Hake of Sandwich, IL; Megan (Shawn) McDowell of Gretna, NE; Erin (Michael) Meyer of Sandwich, IL; Ryann (Maxwell) Brusveen of Plano, IL; Shawn (Erica) Pfaff of Newnan, GA; and Nicole (Matt) Barrow of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He was a loving Papa to Wyatt and Josie Hake; Hadley, Finley, Eisley, and Sullivan McDowell; Lucas and Lillian Meyer; Layne and Piper Brusveen; Noah, Leah, Joshua, and Sarah Pfaff; and Matylin and Kaylin Barrow. He leaves behind his sister, Kathy McGhee, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his bonus family, Justin, Kim, Bentley, and Allison Bedford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vinson and Hilda Pfaff; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Madeline Rott.
Per Chuck’s wishes because he was an “ornery old man” there will not be any services. The family appreciates all of the love and support at this time.
