Charles Thomas Clardy, 93, died peacefully at his home in Wadley, Alabama on Monday, January 13, 2025. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 6, 1931.
Charles is survived by his wife of seventy-three years, Mary Lenohr Brown; his son and daughter in law, Thomas A. and Amanda Clardy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Max Clardy; his parents, Thomas V. and Gladys Clardy; his father and mother -in-law, Charles (Bo) and Ida Ethel Kilbourn Brown.
After serving four years in the Airforce during the Koran War, Charles attended Auburn University, University of Alabama, Southeastern University, and Horn School of Drafting, getting a degree as a Mechanical Design Engineer. He was a general superintendent for numerous American Steel Workers, always using his skills to design more efficient equipment.
After retiring from the mills, he moved to Port St. Joe, Florida and was co-owner of Top Sail Realty. Retiring once again, he then moved to Wadley, Alabama to restore the 1847 family farm.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A private family interment will be held at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe, Florida.
Arrangements are entrusted to the caring staff of Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe, Florida.
