FORT WORTH - Charles (Buzz) Burton Clark III, 86, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1, 2024, after a valiant battle with Parkinson's Disease since his early 50s. He was surrounded by family.
Graveside Service: 12 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Charles (Buzz) was born Dec. 17, 1937 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to Grace Ellen and Charles Burton Clark II. He was the second of five children. In the spring of 1941, the young children and their adventurous parents headed for Texas.
Texas was a dream come true for the young family. Charles loved his years attending White Settlement schools and all the special friends he made. He graduated from Brewer High School in 1956. He played football and basketball. Charles earned a scholarship for football at North Texas and later decided to join the U.S. Navy. He spent four years in San Diego working in compute science. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned home to Fort Worth.
Charles was eager to return to college and pursue a business degree from Texas Wesleyan. At Wesleyan he met Mary Elizabeth Flippo and ultimately, they married in December 1963. In 1965 they celebrated the birth of their son, Douglas Burton Clark. Charles graduated from Texas Wesleyan in August of 1965 and began a business career. In 1973, Charles and Mary's precious baby girl Kristy Elizabeth arrived and completed their beloved family.
Charles was a talented artist whose paintings were admired and collected by those who loved and appreciated the meticulous attention to detail that went into every painting.
He spent many years at Tarrant Appraisal District as a Systems Analyst until he retired in 2003. It was a wonderful experience, one he treasured. His hobbies included golf, hunting, fishing, and attending the many sports activities of his four grandsons.
