Rev. Cox was born on May 12, 1929 in Birmingham Alabama to Charles H. Cox Sr. and Sallie Mann. He graduated from Birmingham Southern College also graduated from Yale and Vanderbilt. After retiring from the Texas Bible Chair at the University of Texas after 30 years moved to Rockdale in 1988 and served as Minister of First Christian Church in Rockdale until 1994.
Rev. Cox is survived by his wife of 36 years FayeLee Cox of Rockdale, three sons, Charles S. Cox (Pete) of Dallas, Texas, son John Cox of Austin Texas, son Jake Decker, married to Kayla Decker of Midland Texas, daughter Jenny Melton of Milano, Texas. Grandchildren Cade Decker, Lexi Voelker (Frank) Sterling King (Ben) McKenna Robertson, Peyton Robertson, Jordan Melton, Rebekah Melton, Kendall Clayton & Mayson Gibbons.
Great Grandchildren, Beckett & Denver Voelker, Bo & Remi King, Graycen Davis, Ja'Nyla Green, Doby & Danetria Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents father Charles H. Cox Sr. and mother Sallie Mann Cox Brother Robert Cox, Son in Law Richard Melton.
