Charles E. Crutcher, 90, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December, 30, 2025. He was born on June 19, 1935 in Cairo, Missouri to Loyd and Opal (Halterman) Crutcher.
Charles married Roberta Dean Jordan on December 23, 1955, at the Armstrong Baptist Church in Armstrong, Missouri.
As a high school athlete, Charles participated in basketball, football, and track. In football his position played was guard and he was nominated most valuable player. In track the Crutcher brothers were known as The Flying Crutchers as they reigned as NEMO mile kings for seven straight years. Charles took the event in 1951, 1952 and 1953. Charles served in the United States Army Security Agency for three years, seeing duty in Japan prior to his honorable discharge. He began his career with Orcheln Truck Lines in Moberly and later retired from Norfolk and Southern Railways after thirty years of service. He was a Charter Member of Union Avenue Christian Church which is now known as Timber Lake Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Roberta of the home; two sons Randy (Amanda) of Higbee, MO, and Bruce (Alicia) of Fayette, MO, and four grandchildren; Randa Crutcher of London, England, Ashley (Paul) Utley of Madison, WI, Dr. Jared Crutcher of St. Louis, MO, and Brayden Thornton of Higbee, MO. Also surviving is his brother Earl Crutcher of Moberly, MO, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister in law David and Rose Crutcher, brother and sister in law Robert and Gloria Crutcher, sister and brother in law Margaret and Floyd Brown.
He will be laid to rest at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
No services are scheduled at this time.
