Junior Lee Crutcher, 92 years old and a longtime resident of
Fountain, CO, was called home to be with the Lord on February 3rd, 2026.
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
2 Corinthians 5:8
Junior was born on July 5, 1933, to the union of Mr. Percy Crutcher and Mrs. Essie Mae Lowe Crutcher. He was born and raised in
Athens, Alabama.
He started his Army career in the later part of the Korean War with service in Okinawa, Japan, and Germany, with two and one-half tours in Vietnam and three tours in Korea afterward, spending 27 years serving his country and retiring right here at Ft. Carson, CO. During his service he was an Airborne Paratrooper and Special Forces Green Beret, earning a National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, a Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, a Korean Service Medal, a Bronze Star Medal, a Combat Infantryman Badge, an Army Commendation Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and a Master Parachutist Badge.
After retiring from active-duty military service, Junior continued his calling to serve others, dedicating more than 20 additional years as a civil servant at Fort Carson Army Hospital.
For 33 faithful years, he served as a Deacon at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Isun Crutcher; daughter, Samantha DeBorja; sister, Percy Anderson; brother, Walter Crutcher; and his mother and father. He is survived by his daughter, Essie Patton; son, Anthony Crutcher; son-in-law, James DeBorja; and daughter-in-law, Monica Ruiz-Crutcher. By his grandchildren Michael DeBorja, Johnson Stokes, Christopher DeBorja, Mielan Brown, and Mia Patton and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Junior lived a life marked by service, devotion, and quiet strength. He faithfully served his country with honor, guided by a deep sense of duty and love for God. As a devoted husband, father, family member, and friend, he gave selflessly of his time, wisdom, and heart. His faith was the foundation of his life, reflected in his steadfast commitment to his church and his unwavering belief in serving God through service to others within his community, leaving a legacy of integrity, kindness, and faith that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

Visitation will be February 18, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm at Angelus Chapel Funeral, 1104 S Circle Dr,
Colorado Springs, CO. The celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on February 19, 2026, at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 5485 Allegre St., Fountain, with the Rev. Larry L. Harris officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expy, at 2:00pm with military honors. Repast immediately following at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
Though we mourn, we rejoice knowing Junior is at rest in the arms of our Savior.
