Charles Francis Doucette, "Charlie," passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, in Longview, Texas, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, on September 12, 1941, he was the only child of Charles Augustine Doucette and Francoise Cottreau Doucette. He grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts and spent many childhood vacations on the family homestead near Wedgeport, Nova Scotia.

Charlie was proud of his Acadian heritage, which he traced through his genealogical research to the early settlers of Port Annapolis, Nova Scotia, in the 1630s. A dedicated man, Charlie was a global satellite communications expert and was affectionately known in his professional field as "The man, The myth, The legend". He held two patents for sailboat hardware and spoke several languages, including Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese.

Charlie traveled the world for his work and created strong lasting relationships at many of his work sites. He maintained deep friendships in Lecco, Italy, where he lived and worked for many years. He found love along the way and was married to Sandra Coombs (Littleton, MA), June Haines (Salou, Spain), Thora Margaret Wood (Longview TX), and Naomi Pool (Longview TX). In his last days, Charlie enjoyed the company of Muriel Dobbs at Parkview on Hollybrook and with love so strong he had hopes to make her is wife.

Family time was important and he often traveled long distances to his families' residences for holidays. Charlie is survived by his children, Paul Doucette and is wife Kerrie, and Kristin Goodwin and her husband Larry; his adopted daughter, Natalia Haines; and his stepchildren, Anna Marie Wood, Lori Ivey and her husband Rusty, David Jones and his wife Amanda. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and his "daughter of the heart", Summer McCoy. He will be greatly missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at The Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home in Longview, Texas, following a prayer service (Rosary) at 5:00 p.m.. A memorial mass will be held in his honor on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Longview.
