Charles Allen Dowden

Graveside services were held for Charles Allen Dowden on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Prewitts Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Jeane's Funeral Service.
Charles Allen Dowden was born on June 6, 1944, in Many, Louisiana to Jiles and Inez West Dowden. He passed on September 10, 2023, at home in Anacoco at the age of 79. Charles graduated from Plainview High School in 1963. The next year he married the love of his life, Ann Behan. Charles worked for many years for the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed all his chickens and dogs. He liked to visit with his neighbors and friends; he loved to talk and tell stories about family history.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles Eugene "Cotton" Dowden, grandson, Samuel Dowden, and brothers, Bobby and Billie Dowden.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Dowden of Anacoco,
daughters, Angela Averitt, and husband Larry, and Tandy Killian and husband Kevin all of Hornbeck,
grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Brittany Downs, Matthew Killian, Ashton Averitt, and Megan Dowden,
great grandchildren, Drew and Baylor Downs, Kane Kreed Killian, and Ryder and Ridge Malmay.
sisters, Joy Hyatt and Mablene Kelly,
and a host of extended family and friends.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all those who have supported them during this time of loss. A special thank you to Douglas Downs, Larry Averitt, and the pallbearers for assisting them in carrying out Mr. Charles's last wishes.
