Charles Doyle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schepp Family Funeral Homes, Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel on Jan. 12, 2026.
Charles Joseph Doyle, 89, formerly of Fayetteville, NY, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of December 28, 2025 in Winter Haven, FL.
Charlie was born on August 9, 1936, the eldest of 6 children born to Thomas and Mary Ellen (Banaghan) Doyle, in Pine Bush, NY. There he helped run his family farm before attending Orange County Community College, and then Cornell, where he received a BS in Rural Education. After graduation, he served in the US Army and Army Reserves, then taught in Sidney and Auburn NY, where he was a popular and well respected teacher. In 1970, he began working for John Deere, first as a territory sales manager, and then in Financial Services, where he remained a dedicated and admired employee until his retirement in 1993.
In 1972, he was included in the Outstanding Young Men of America book, which lists "young men who give quietly and unselfishly that the quality of all our lives may be improved." His quiet dedication to service in his community continued throughout his life, leading Boy Scouts, Future Farmers of America, the Jaycees, and as state director of the Moravia Grange. He served in many capacities at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, NY, from lead usher to church council to Treasurer, bringing his quiet intelligence and sense of humor to every role. He was a friend to many, staying connected through many home moves and changes of life.
Charlie and his wife Rachel (née Coronios) married in1959, and remained so for the rest of his life. Even more than a man of service and a good friend, Charlie was a family man, loving and supporting his wife, 5 children and then grandchildren through triumphs and tribulations. He was funny, warm, well read, loved all things about cars and planes, and could beat anyone at Scrabble.
In his later years, he enjoyed time with his kids and grandkids, often visiting with friends and family and traveling with Folks Marches to many areas of the world. In 2012 he began a new chapter as a snowbird, traveling to Winter Haven FL for the winter months and returning to his longtime home in Fayetteville, NY for the summer. He became a full time resident of FL in 2020, where he enjoyed life with his wife Rachel at 4Lakes in Winter Haven.
Charlie is survived by his devoted wife Rachel, brothers Joe and Eddie, children Michelle (Jaime), Chris (Sandy), Cathy (Andy) and Martin, grandchildren Jessica (Connor), Mackenzie, Amanda (Ethan), Michael (Jade), Téa Carranza-Doyle (Angel) and Benjamin, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Ellen, his siblings Mary, Jim and Tom, his son Michael and grandson Robert.
A memorial service to honor Charlie will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Fayetteville, at a date to be determined in April.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to Trinity Episcopal Church of Fayetteville, NY, Future Farmers of America or a cause/organization of their choice, in memory of Charlie.
