Charles Duboise Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caruth-Hale Funeral Home on Jan. 30, 2025.
Charlie, a dedicated public servant, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025 at the age of 76. Born on April 30, 1948 in Black Oak, Arkansas, he lived a life defined by hard work, service, and an unwavering love for his family.
He was preceded in death by parents Golden Duboise and Wilma Parris, second wife Brenda Duboise, brother Bob Duboise, and nephew David Duboise.
From a young age, Charlie displayed an incredible work ethic, starting his first job at just 11 years old at a local gas station. That early drive led him to a remarkable 41-year career in law enforcement, beginning with the Hot Springs Police Department in 1972. His passion for protecting and serving the community continued as he became a respected instructor at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA) for 31 years, where he helped shape the careers of countless officers. His service extended beyond law enforcement-he was also a paramedic and an undertaker for Caruth-Hale in the early 70's, always ensuring he was there for people in both their most urgent and most solemn moments.
Outside of his career, Charlie cherished his family above all else. He was a devoted husband to Donna Duboise, a loving father to children Angie Duboise-Warren (Toliver), Charles (Chip) William Duboise, Jr., Mercedez Campos (Jeff); step-children Amanda Selig (Chris), Leila Leggett, Sarah Sundman (Michael) and Alex McIntyre (Adam), as well as an adoring grandfather and pop pop to Chipper, D'Artanian, Darrien, Kyler (Brinlie), Kylie (Chris), Kaitlyn (Colton), Addyson, Jaxson, Abel, Madison (Bailey), Larry (Kennedy) and great grandfather to Brixton. Charlie treasured every moment spent with his family, whether it was sharing stories, offering wisdom, or simply making them laugh, his presence was a gift to all who knew him.
A man of many passions, Charlie had a deep love for muscle cars and Westerns, especially John Wayne movies, embodying the same grit and determination as his favorite cowboy. He could often be found on his tractor, sometimes with a purpose, other times just for the sheer joy of moving it from one spot to another.
Though he has left this world, Charlie's legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace, driving a classic muscle car, most likely a corvette, down open roads and watching over them with that same steady, protective presence he always had.
Rest easy Charlie. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will never fade.
A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home in Hot Springs, AR. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his memory.

Charlie was a friend and a man I respected as a police officer and a person.
He always conducted himself with respect and professionalism. He will certainly be missed.
