Charles Duensing Obituary
Charles Duensing was born on May 2, 1939, and passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024, in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was a man of joy and laughter, whose presence was a blessing to all who knew him.
Charles was born to Mildred (Clark) Duensing and Robert Duensing, on May 2, 1939, in Custer Park, Illinois. On April 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Annetta, and together they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that lasted until her passing on March 13, 2023. Theirs was a love story that inspired their family and friends, a testament to unwavering commitment and affection.
Charles was a devoted father to his children Tara (Richard) Veruchi, Laura (Anthony Tallarita) Pete, Erik Duensing, and the late Scott Duensing. He instilled in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of family. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren Nick (Amanda), Robert, Kristina, Jonathan, Sabrina, Bethany, Laura Lynn, Melody (Tyler) Hullinger, and Danielle (Nick) Cruz, and his adored great-grandchildren Lily, Bella, Sophia, Julian, Natalie, and Lyla.
His son Scott Duensing, sisters Lois Boles and Bonnie Duensing predeceased him, but he is lovingly remembered by his sister Roberta Grzeszczyk. The bond they shared was not merely one of blood but of heartfelt friendship and mutual respect.
Charles was a man of many passions and simple pleasures. A keen card player, he loved nothing more than a spirited game of poker with friends or a trip to the casino, where he would indulge in the thrill of chance. His love for the lottery was matched only by his unwavering support for his favorite sports teams-the Bears, the Cubs, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His enthusiasm was infectious, and many family gatherings were brightened by his lively commentary and steadfast team spirit.
As we bid farewell to Charles Duensing, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will be treasured in the hearts of his family, his friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have shared in his journey. Charles' laughter, wisdom, and the warmth of his presence will be dearly missed, yet they will continue to resonate in the lives of those he touched.
Visitation for Charles will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St. Mishawaka. There will be no formal services at this time, and a private burial will take place in Wesley Cemetery, Wilmington, Illinois.
If you would like to leave a donation in remembrance of Charles, the family asks donations to be made to Ernestine M. Raclin House, Mishawaka, IN.
