Charles Dunn Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 18, 2025.
Charles Meridith Dunn, lovingly known as Charlie, passed away on September 10, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 76. He was born on June 24, 1949, in Rexburg, Idaho, to James and Stella Dunn.

Charlie grew up in the Egin Bench area, where he developed a love for engines, the outdoors, and adventure. After attending trade school, he built a lifelong career in mechanics and auto body work. Along with repairing cars, he also hauled logs from the Idaho mountains and ran heavy equipment, including caterpillars. For decades, he was known as the trusted local mechanic in St. Anthony and Egin. His shop was more than a workplace-it was a gathering spot. Friends and neighbors knew Charlie would always have a Coca-Cola in the fridge, a good story to tell, and time to share a laugh. He was respected not just for his skill but for his kindness, loyalty, and friendship.

Outside of work, Charlie loved the open road and wide-open country. He rode his Harley to Sturgis each year with his son Heath and daughter-in-law Amber, explored the sand dunes and mountain trails on his four-wheeler, and fished the waters of Kilgore, a place he always cherished. He also shared countless adventures with Shannon and Heath, from riding snowmobiles through the fields and participating in demolition derbies, to long road trips on his Gold Wing motorcycle. These shared experiences became treasured memories, and later in life, Charlie continued making special moments with Shannon through road trips and family gatherings. He rarely missed a Thanksgiving with her family-first in Colorado and later in Texas. His six grandchildren brought him endless joy, and he treasured every moment with them. Family was the heart of Charlie's life. He is survived by his children, Shannon (John) Mullin and Heath (Amber) Dunn; his grandchildren, Jordyn and Kelsey Mullin, Cash and Aspen Dunn, and Jayden and Wyatt Dunn; and his brothers Wayne (Luena) Dunn and Victor (Renea) Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Stella Dunn.

Those who knew Charlie remember him as patient, kind, and fiercely loyal. He welcomed everyone-whether at his shop or around the table-with warmth and generosity. He lived without pretense, without enemies, and left behind countless friendships and a family who adored him. His legacy will live on in the love he gave and the lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 am at Flamm Funeral Home. Charlie will be laid to rest in Idaho, the place he always called home.
