Charles "Charly" Bernard Dunn passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at Burbank Parke Care Center with his wife Susie by his side.

He was born on January 30, 1932, in Bridgeport, Ohio to the late Albert C. and Virginia (Renner) Dunn. His siblings lovingly called him "Bernard." Charly and his wife, Susan (Ewing) were married on August 29, 1995. They enjoyed 42 wonderful years together.

Charly served 2 years in the U.S. armed forces before starting his career as a car salesman. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned and operated Dunn Ford (Willard, OH) and Aaron Towing (Akron, OH). Later in life he was especially proud to work alongside his children at Dunn Brothers Premium Auto. Charly had a lifelong passion for buying and selling cars. He also enjoyed raising horses, golfing, riding snowmobiles, and reading mystery and western novels.

He will be remembered for answering the phone with his signature sense of humor, like a drawled "Hello, Walls," referencing the old country song. That same quick wit and charm served him well as a car salesman, where he had an unmatched talent for striking up a deal-and a conversation-with just about anyone.

Charly was a loving husband, father, "Poppo," and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife Susie; children Pamela Blackwood; Mike (Diana) Dunn, Matt (Gayle) Dunn, Davey (fiancée Cherrie) Dunn, Todd (Sheryl) Dunn, and Courtney (Nathaniel) Dunn; grandchildren Ann, Jaimee (Gina), Dustin, Meghann (John), Dessa (Garrett), Matthew (Ashley), Allison (Talon), Danny, Dylan, Kelly, Kaci (Shaphen), and Chase; 15 great- and great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Joyce Zendejas and Pat Grosswiler.

In addition to his parents, Charly was preceded in death by his siblings Elaine Miller, Ilene Goodrum, Kathleen Riggs, Karen Lombatis, Joy Lynn Lockwood, Terry Lockwood, Bonnie Becker, Albert Dunn, Kermit Dunn, Ted Dunn, Sandra Grosswiler, and twin infant siblings; and son-in- law Greg Blackwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meals and More at St Stephens Church, 44 Britton St West Salem, OH 44287; or Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

Friends may call Saturday October 4 at Matteson Funeral Home from 11 am – 1 pm followed by a 1 pm funeral service. Burial to follow at family cemetery where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499 of West Salem. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Burbank Parke for the wonderful care given to Charly. Your kindness and support will always be remembered.

"See ya, bye!" Love, Charly.
