Charles David Eagles

Charles David "Chuck/CD" Eagles, born on January 25, 1941, in Fresno, California, and
raised in Pinedale, California, passed away on September 3, 2023.

Chuck is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sheila Hill Eagles, whom he met during
a Labor Day weekend camping trip in 1964, and they were married on January 2, 1965.
He was the beloved son of Dorothy and Leonard Eagles and is survived by his brother
James “Jim” Eagles. Chuck was preceded in death by his siblings Lawrence, Rose,
Donna, Gene, Wayne, and Neil, whose memories he cherished. Chuck loved his children: Lisa Luke (Mike) of Herriman, UT, Mark Eagles (Yvette) of Arroyo Grande, CA, John Eagles (Jennifer) of Hendersonville, CA, and Margaret "Peggy" Eagles (Edward) of Gallatin, TN.

He was a proud grandfather to Michael, Christa, Keith, Joseph, Sofia, Zach, Nick, Logan, Andrew, Tiffany, Chelsey, Emily, Lindsay, Lacey, and Cole. Chuck also delighted in the presence of his great-grandchildren: Braden, Mia, Ariel, Camilla, Henry, Stephen, Everlie, Carter, Shaelynn, Elliana, Kennedy, and Shawn.

Chuck was a proud and decorated veteran, serving in the United States Navy for eight
years as a machinist's mate aboard the USS Midway from July 9, 1958, to June 17,
1966. Following his active duty enlistment, he was a Navy reservist serving as a Navy
Seabee. He was honored to serve his country and always spoke fondly of his time in the
Navy. In his civilian life, Chuck worked as a heavy equipment crane operator, showcasing his
skill and dedication in his profession. He loved and took pride in his work.

Chuck had a deep love for the great outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and
swimming and had a special affinity for flying. He was also a music enthusiast and
proudly sang in the Navy choir. Chuck was a fiercely competitive spirit, whether it was in board games, liars' dice, or any other activity. He was a clever strategist and would never let you win. So if you won
against him, you could be confident it was a real win. He had a curious mind and enjoyed reading Popular Mechanics to stay updated on the latest technological advancements.

 

 Chuck's sense of humor and quick wit were a source of comfort for his family and friends, even in the face of health challenges. Chuck enjoyed telling a good story and his audience was always captivated by his
authentic delivery, strong voice and large, expressive hands. During his youth, Chuck
loved competing with his brothers in high (clown) diving, roller skating, bowling, and
ping pong. He said his brother Jim was the only one who could clown dive better than
he could.

Charles David "Chuck/CD" Eagles will be remembered for his strength, resilience, and
unwavering love for his family. His life was a testament to the power of love,
determination, and humor in the face of adversity. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held on Sunday at 3pm in Hendersonville. Graveside service will be held on Monday, at 9am at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Veterans Administration or other organization supporting Veterans in his honor.
