Charles L. "Chuck" Engel, 95, of Frankfort, died at 12:58 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at his home. He was born on Tuesday, March 20, 1928, in Merrillville IN, a son of the late William Otto and Evelyn Phillips Engel. On July 15, 1958, he married the former Mary E. Drake, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Chuck is survived by four children, Steve (Mary Beth) Engel of Plymouth IN, Susan Maze of Plymouth IN, Charles (Kim) Engel of Frankfort, Todd (Debbie) Engel of Frankfort, daughter-in-law, Diana Engel of Frankfort, nine grandchildren, Tess, Vicki, Lindsay, Hannah, Katie, Courtney, Cory, Charlee, Kallee, seventeen great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Sandy Powers of Columbus, and good friends, Dan and Denise Miller of Frankfort. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Engel, and one sister, Betty Jean Schaffer. 

Chuck worked as a mechanic and was a sprint race car driver. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during World War II. 

A funeral service will be held for Charles at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, in the EBRIGHT FUNERAL HOME, Frankfort, with Pastor Ronnie Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, with military honors accorded. Friends and family are invited to visit with Chuck's family at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m..
