Charles Engel Obituary

Charles C. "Chuck" Engel II., aged 79, a long-time resident of Franklin, WI, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 13, 1944, in Milwaukee, Chuck was a man whose life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for his work, and his unwavering generosity.
After graduating from Greenfield High School in 1962, Chuck took the helm of his father's business, Engel Tool and Forge, and with vision and hard work, he transformed it into a competitive near-net press factory. His entrepreneurial spirit and inventive mind not only contributed to the industry but also provided a stable and nurturing environment for his employees and their families.
Chuck's devotion to his family was paramount. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Annette, and their children: Charann (Lowell) Anderson, Charles (Rebecca) Engel, Cindy (Scott) Corsi, and Christy Engel. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Natalie (Alex) Penkwitz, Nicole, Nolan, Naomi, Gabriella, Cecilia, Charlie, Kye, and Aven. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he took immense pride in their achievements and adventures.
An avid outdoorsman, Chuck found solace in the beauty of nature. He could often be found hunting with his beloved German Shorthaired dogs. His love for the outdoors expanded to the water, where he could be found on his boat fishing or pulling along a family member tubing, memories created on the boat would last a lifetime with the whole family. Chuck's green thumb was evident in his garden, which was both a source of joy and a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit.
Beyond his interests, Chuck was known for his selfless nature. He was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether it was helping a neighbor start a business or extending his support to charities. His creative solutions and loving guidance were a beacon of hope to many, and his impact on the community was profound.
Chuck's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire. Loving, creative, and selfless, he was a man who not only dreamed of a better world but also worked tirelessly to make it a reality for his family and those around him.
As we bid farewell to Chuck, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and lasting contributions. He will be deeply missed, but his warmth, kindness, and the lessons he taught us will be cherished forever.
A service to honor and remember Charles C. Engel II will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic church on Friday, August 16, 2024. Chuck's life was a testament to the power of hard work, compassion, and the enduring bonds of family. In his memory, we are reminded to embrace each day with the same zeal and generosity that he so effortlessly displayed. Rest in peace, dear Chuck, and thank you for the light you brought into our lives.

My mother and Chuck's mother were sisters and we were a large family. I have so many summertime memories of Chuck staying at the farm I grew up on in Door County. Chuck became one with us during the summers through responsibilities of farm work, adventures and much fun. Although he grew up in Milwaukee, there were many trips to his home there to see what "city life" was all about with his family. I treasure my memories of "Chuckie"...Aunt Hilda, uncle Charles, his sister Rosalie and brother Kenny. Aunt Hilda and uncle Charles took me to my very first real restaurant! So many memories...a life time, and all filled with family love.

We were children and teen agers together. It was a truly fine time with big family gatherings and mischief! He is in my heart now. Marcia Olsen Usow

I really Love fishing Lake Michigan and if it wasn't for Chuck taking my dad and I out when I was a youngster I might have never enjoyed my passion. We would also take family trips together (Door County, Wyoming) some of my best memories. I referred to him as Uncle Chuck and cared for him as such. Wish I could have took him out fishing one more time.
