Charles Paul Erickson, age 81 of Cannon Falls, MN, died on Saturday evening, February 15, 2020 in Scottsdale, AZ following a brief illness.
Charles was born the oldest child of Paul and Florence (Anderson) Erickson on October 22, 1938 in Red Wing, MN. He attended District #42 country school in Leon Township and later graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1956. He served with the US Army Reserves from 1959-1965.
He married Sandra Martenson on December 30, 1960 at Spring Garden Lutheran Church, where they were both previously baptized and confirmed. He and his wife Sandy started a farming business and successfully expanded it with his brother Allen. He loved traveling across the country in his and Sandy's motor coach, woodworking, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed meeting new friends while he traveled across the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Florence Erickson.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Sandy (Martenson) Erickson; children, Todd Erickson (Bonnie McNamara) of Cannon Falls, Brian (Shannon) Erickson of Holland, MI, and Dawn (Mick) Murphy of Mound; 3 grandchildren, Brendan, Kendra, and Maggie Erickson; brother, Allen (Kay) Erickson of Cannon Falls; sister, Pauline (Herb) Nerison of Cannon Falls; sister-in-law, Sharon Foss of Cannon Falls; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28 from 5-8 p.m. at Lundberg Funeral Home in Cannon Falls. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 29 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at Spring Garden Lutheran Church. A military honors farewell will follow the church service outside. Spring interment will be held at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Spring Garden Lutheran Church.
