Charles Fields Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spurlin Funeral Home - Stanford on Jan. 16, 2026.
Charles Fields, 86, of Kings Mountain, KY passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Born on April 25, 1939 in Waynesburg, KY to the late Dewey Fields and the late Cisiah Fields.

Charles worked as a plumber and heating and air specialist in Massachusetts, before moving to Kings Mountain, KY in 1979. Here, he worked at a local sawmill, where his passion for woodworking flourished. Charles' love for Bluegrass music was only rivaled by his love for his family. He could play any string instrument, but the mandolin held a special place in his heart. This love for music was not limited to playing; Charles also crafted beautiful instruments. His service in the United States Air Force was a testament to his courage and dedication to his country. He was a man of unwavering integrity, a trait he carried throughout his life. Charles was a beacon of resilience and strength, traits that he instilled in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the most beloved part of his existence.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Patricia Duhamel Fields; two children, Charles Dewey Fields (Donna) and Lori Fields Bailey (Jerry); son-in-law, John Aubin; nine grandchildren, Krystal, Matthew, Jerry Jr., Bill, Andrew, Emily, Patrick, Nick and Heather; seventeen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Cisiah Fields; one daughter, Velvet Fields Aubin; seven sisters, Louanza Whitaker, Rebexey Coss, Letha Wagenschutz, Lily Elliot, Dora Alice Kilby, Virginia Marie Fields and Lois Jeanette Fields; four brothers, George Dewey Fields, Bill Fields, Bob Fields and Delano Fields.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
