HENDERSON- Charles Millard Garrett Sr., 87, of Glover Street, died Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Maria Parham Health. Born July 11, 1937 in Warren County, he was the son of the late Virginia Turner Garrett and Millard Blaine Garrett. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired administrator for the North Carolina National Guard. Charles was a member of Union Chapel Church of Kittrell where he served in numerous capacities during his life.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at Union Chapel Church of Kittrell by Rev. Radford Frazier. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
Charles is survived by his wife, Edith Garrett Garrett of the home; four sons, Charles Garrett, Jr. of the home, Randy Garrett and wife, Sandy, Donald Sanford and wife, Charlene, and Tony Sanford and wife, Tammy, all of Henderson; five grandchildren, Anthony Sanford, Emily Patterson, Blair Sanford, Caleb Garrett and Jordan Wilder; nine great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Smith and husband, Douglas of Henderson; and his brother, Harold Garrett and wife, Joan of Texas.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Union Chapel Church of Kittrell; at other times they will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Chapel Church of Kittrell Mission Fund, C/O Robert McGhee, 6479 Raleigh Road, Kittrell, NC 27544.
