Charles Junior Gastineau, 87, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.

Charles was born on January 3, 1937 to the late William and Laura (Sears) Gastineau in McCoysburg, Indiana. He was a US Army Veteran, having served 1955-1962. He enjoyed gardening, driving his old truck, car shows, fishing, UK Basketball and Football. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Nelson Valley Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Ann (Hall) Gastineau whom he married on April 13, 1961; his son, Charles Wayne & (Jana) Gastineau; his daughter, Debora & (Scott) Quillen; four grandchildren, Steven Gastineau, Suzanne & (Jon) Burton, Dustin Quillen, and Lindsey & (David) Roy; and five great-grandchildren, Hayden Gastineau, Rylie Baker, Gracie Burton, Easton Burton, and Jacob Roy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James Gastineau, Edwin Gastineau, Bill Gastineau, and Eugene Gastineau; and his sisters, Ada Gastineau, Verna Cummins, and Glenda Norton.

A funeral service will be held 10 AM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Stanley Childers officiating.

Military Honors will be performed by American Legion Post 38 Honor Guard.

Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 5, 2024 from 6 PM to 9 PM at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy to take the form of donations to Nelson Valley Baptist Church.
