Charles “Charlie” H. Goodroe, 78, of Albany died Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
His funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Mathews Funeral home with interment to follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.
Born at Ft. Benning, Charlie spent most of his life in Albany. He graduated from Albany High School. After high school Charlie served his country by serving in the U. S. Army, serving Vietnam and then the U. S. Navy. After his military career, Charlie managed the commissary at MCLB for twenty five years. He was an avid golfer belonging to Riverpoint Golf Club and served on the board for The Salvation Army. He loved to watch the Braves, Dawgs and Falcons, bowling and helped coach baseball and football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Joyce Goodroe and daughter Amy Goodroe.
Survivors include his son, Ethan Goodroe and wife Cheyenne, daughters, Holly Rosler, Stephanie Hill, grandchildren, Carter Goodroe, Saylor Reynolds, Rylan Williams, sisters, Barbara Mills and Husband Jeff, Donna McLaggan and husband John, brother Cecil Goodroe and wife Sherri Goodroe, Charlies' former wife Melanie Goodroe, several nephews. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers , Mr. Charles Goodroe would like there to be donations towards The Salvation Army or Toys for Tots.
