Charles Edward Gorée, Jr.

Charles (Charlie) Edward Gorée, Jr. passed away suddenly on January 22, 2026.

Public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 31st from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Beam’s Funeral Home in Marion. A short service will follow.

Charlie was born in Hoboken, NJ on October 25, 1952.

He served in the police reserve unit in Fairlawn, NJ in the 80’s prior to starting his career in the US Postal Service. Charlie served as a Postal Police Officer transitioning into a Postal Supervisor.

After moving with his family to Marion, NC in 2002, Charlie continued his work for the Postal Service as a Postmaster in Bat Cave and Ridgecrest; retiring from the Bakersville’s office.

Beloved father to John, Justin, Alex (and wife Christina) and Devin. Charlie is also survived by his wife of 34 years, Cheryl Lynn Epley Gorée and previous wife, Nancy Gorée. He had 6 grandchildren, Justin, Jonathan, Jake, Jayce, Johnny and Addison.

Charlie was a consummate cook, fondly called Chef Chaz; always cooking for an “army”.

Charlie (Sensei) was also proficient in Karate and earned his 3rd degree black belt under the tutelage of his friend and Sensei, Gerard DelColle.
