Charles Edward Hackney, 80, of Greenville, passed away on September 30, 2025 in Greenville, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Family Fellowship with Rev. Paul Blue officiating. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles was born in Greenville, Texas on December 6, 1944 to Glen Norris Hackney and Thelma Mae Campbell Hackney. He married the love of his life, Linda Faye Jones, on July 3, 1965 in Good Hope Community, Texas.

He devoted his life to serving others, first as a firefighter and later through his career with the U.S. Postal Service. Charles was a faithful member of Family Fellowship, where he built lifelong friendships and lived out his deep faith. He will be remembered for his steady kindness, steadfastness, and devotion to family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Thelma Hackney; his wife, Linda Jones Hackney; his brother, Thomas Hackney; and his sister, Deborah Hackney.

He is survived by his children, Wade Hackney and wife April, Cindy Dyke and husband David, and Greg Hackney; his brother, Walter Hackney and wife Johnnie; and his grandchildren, Lindsey and Chase Greenway; Ethan Hackney; Charlotte Hackney; Nathan Dyke; Brittany and Brandon Faddis; Eric Dyke; Katelyn Dyke; Krystan Dyke; Heaven Dyke; Chase Hackney; Colton Hackney; and Caitlyn Hackney; as well as his great-grandchildren, Cohen and Conley Greenway, Holden Hackney, and Michael Dyke.

Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue in the lives of all who knew him.
