Charles Hall Obituary

Charles Richard Hall of Bermuda Run, NC, formerly of Camden, died on February 14 at the age of 100. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1875 Antioch Rd., Camden, SC. Rev. Dr. Danny Hedgepath will officiate. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, with Military Honors rendered by the US Marine Corps. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall at the church.

Born in Wheelwright, Ky, he was the son and ninth child of the late Richard Hall and Dink Cook Hall. He spent most of his youth with his mother and extended family in Omar, W. V. Mr. Hall enlisted in the U. S. Marines from 1943 until 1946 and served in the invasion of Okinawa in 1945. During his service he met Dorothy Melton in Camden and returned to marry her and make his home in Camden in 1946. Mr. Hall graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1951 where he was a three-year letterman in boxing. He also held a master's degree in statistics from Georgia State University. He was employed by the Southern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years in Atlanta and Columbia, retiring in 1986 having served in management positions of the accounting, personnel and engineering departments. He was actively engaged in several civic and community outreach organizations and in the Parent Teacher Organizations of his children's schools. Mr. Hall was an active member of North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, later of First Baptist Church in Camden and, finally, of Antioch Baptist Church.

Mr. Hall was an avid sports fan. He spent twenty-five years coaching Litle League baseball and football. He spent years on the bleachers of his sons' high school and college baseball, basketball and football games. He was also a Master Gardener who was dedicated to bringing pleasure to many with the plants and flowers in his yards. After retirement in 1986 and return to Camden, Mr. Hall greatly enjoyed his memberships in the American Legion James Leroy Belk Post 17 and the Marine Corps League Detachment 1146. He was also an invited member of La Société des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux (The Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses).

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a true and dedicated friend to many. Surviving is his daughter, Sandra Hall Allen of Clemmons, NC; two sons, Dr. Thomas Richard Hall (Kaye) of Lexington, SC and William Todd Hall (Shannon) of Winston Salem, NC. He leaves seven grandchildren: Dottie Allen (Stacey Maxwell) of Aiken SC, Chase Hall of Los Angeles, Ca., Dr. Graham Hall (Sarah) of Durham, NC, Haley Hall of Fairfield, Conn., Casey Hall of Richmond, VA, Matthew Hall and Luke Hall of Charleston, SC.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Greystone Cottage Assisted Living in Bermuda Run, NC, and Trellis Hospice Care in Winston Salem for the professional and caring services extended to Mr. Hall and his family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shriners Children's Hospital at donate.lovetotherescue.org.

I had the pleasure of visiting Charles at Bermuda Village in Clemmons, NC a number of times. Without a doubt one of the most fascinating people I've met. What a story and what a life! Never heard him complain regardless of any physical battle he was facing. May God bring comfort to you with great memories as you mourn his passing.
