Charles W. Hemeon Age 87 of Lakeville, Minnesota passed away on November 11, 2024. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy, and parents Maxwell Hemeon and Selina Major.
Charlie was born April 18, 1937 in Gloucester, MA. Growing up in Massachusetts, he never lost his Bostonian accent and was often
asked where he was from. After graduating High School in Gloucester Massachusetts in 1955, he enlisted in the Air Force. Before leaving for basic training, Charlie was introduced to Nancy, his cousin Doris' best friend. Nancy felt bad for Charlie being away from home, so she started writing him letters and that is where their love story began. When Charlie returned from the service he proposed and in July 1959 he
married the love of his life. Karen and Mark completed the family over the next few years. Charlie's career was always in the travel business working for Eastern Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Gateway Music Festivals to name a few. Working for the airlines led to several transfers. Over the years Charlie and Nancy lived in Massachusetts, Texas, Louisiana and Minnesota. Eventually settling in Minnesota to raise their family.
During his life, Charlie traveled the world and loved to share stories and extensive knowledge with anyone who asked. We always said his brain was a walking computer full of travel facts. Most of all, he loved traveling with Nancy, Karen, Mark, and many family members and friends, planning numerous tours and cruises. Several under the group name "COOKI" (Cruising on our kids' inheritance). As the family grew, his heart grew, he loved his Son-In-Law Doug, Daughter-in-Law Tracy and Granddaughter-in-Law Laura like they were his own. When his first Great-grandson, Finley, was welcomed into the world, he became one of the greatest joys of his life. Charlie also loved his time with his grand-dogs Tator Tot and Alice. He loved family deeply, but that love extended to so many friends who will also miss him greatly.
Charlie loved a good game of cribbage, telling stories, debating with his friends and family about politics and current events, reading and spending time with those he loved.
Survived by daughter Karen (Doug) Torseth, son Mark (Tracy) Hemeon, grandson Justin (Laura)Torseth, great-grandson Finley, sister Vickie Major, sister-in-law Cheryl (Stan) Carter, niece Cyndi (Tom) Connelley, nephew Stanley (Kristine) Carter; as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
