Charles Hobbs Obituary

Charles Thomas “Tommy” Hobbs, 80, of Easley, husband of the late Mary Glasgow Hobbs, passed away just days before his 81st birthday. Born February 2, 1944, in Decatur, Alabama to the late Wilbur and Laverne Calloway Hobbs. Tommy was an active member of Trinity Point Church where he and his late wife were dedicated to serving their church community.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years until her passing in 2023. A steadfast member of his community, Charles retired as a supervisor at 3M Corporation after a remarkable 40-year career, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Throughout his life, Charles held a deep affection for his family, especially the treasured moments spent with his grandchildren. He took immense pride in being a loving grandfather, viewing each memory created with them as a priceless gift. His warmth and devotion to his family were evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Beyond his professional accomplishments and family relations, Charles had a passion for golf, a sport he enjoyed both for the challenge it presented and the camaraderie it fostered. Tommy enjoyed traveling to the beach, where he would play the local golf course. Many will remember the joy he found on the course, where he could often be found sharing stories and laughter with friends and fellow players.

He is survived by a son, Todd Hobbs; grandchildren, Julia Escobar, Kenia Escobar, Brandy Escobar, Sophia Montero, Keyri Escobar, Ana Escobar, Balid Escobar-Cruz, Cookie Escobar, Noe Escobar, Julian Escobar, Julie Escobar, Joanna Escobar, Romeo Escobar, Lexie Escobar, Homer Cruz, David Methrin Jr., and Bianey Escobar; thirteen great-grandchildren, and cousin, Lisa Thomas who he had a special closeness with.

The receiving of friends friends on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with the memorial service following in the chapel at 2:00 PM.

The family would like to mention a very special thank you to Brad and Karen Rampey for their care, support and the delicious home-cooked meals they provided to Mr. Hobbs.

Tommy will be lovingly remembered for his unwavering spirit, his kindness to others, and the happiness he brought to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him
