Opal Baker Obituary

Opal Louise Baker, 78, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late J.L. “Booger” Baker, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at her home.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Vollie and Irene Tate. Opal spent her career as a seamstress at Swirl in Easley, South Carolina. Her journey became even more beautiful when she met her husband, and together they built a life full of love and warmth for 34 years until his passing in 2022. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first. Opal had a simple yet profound joy in life, always greeting the world with a smile. Her love for her family was evident, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Outside of her family life, Opal had a passion for dancing and enjoyed listening to all types of music. She was also known for her excellent cooking, often preparing delicious meals that brought everyone together at the table. A member of Crosswell Apostolic Church in Easley, South Carolina, Opal's faith was an important part of her life and guided her through every day. Though she has left us, Opal's legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her infectious smile, and her unwavering devotion to family.

She is survived by a son, Bo King (Tina); two daughters, Annette Holt (Tim) and Angela Chapman; four stepchildren, Melinda Campbell (Chris), Melissa Miller (Billy), Michael Baker (Debbie), and Mark Baker; one sister, Doris Morrow (Woody); fourteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Rothell; five brothers, Harold Tate, Robert Tate, Thomas Tate, Grover Tate, and Hubert Tate; and two sisters, Faye Gosnell, and Florence Duncan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens, South Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road.
