Charles Patrick Hogan, affectionately known as "Pat," of Harrison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, just 11 days after celebrating his 76th birthday. Born on March 17, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Charles M. Hogan and Ruth (nee Shafer) Hogan, Pat's family initially intended to name him Charles Matthew, but honored the special day of his birth by embracing the name Charles Patrick, which he proudly carried throughout his life.
Pat was a proud graduate of LaSalle High School, where he began to shine as a dedicated and adventurous spirit. Following graduation, he embarked on a memorable trip out west, where his quick thinking saved someone's life at the Grand Canyon-a testament to his selflessness and character. His passion for building began to flourish as he found a fulfilling career at Macy's in Kenwood, where he led a talented carpenter crew for many years, crafting stunning displays and showcasing his impressive skills.
In retirement, Pat continued to share his love for the outdoors and craftsmanship with the Miami Whitewater Parks District, where he dedicated 13 years to improving parks and enjoying nature's beauty. A passionate fisherman and hunter, Pat found joy beneath the waves as a certified scuba diver. His adventurous spirit took him across the United States-his travels igniting a special love for Hawaii, a place where he married his soulmate, Deborah K. Thompson, on February 23, 1981. Their enduring partnership was a shining example of love, as they celebrated 44 wonderful years together.
Pat's legacy is cherished by his beloved wife, Deborah K. Hogan, his siblings Tim and Terry Hogan, his brothers-in-law William, Ron, Michael, and Jay Thompson, and his precious nieces and nephews: Lauren, Joel, Sam, Michael, and Maria. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Pat was preceded in death by his dear parents, Charles and Ruth Hogan.
To celebrate Pat's remarkable life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, located on 3350 Chapel Rd. in Shandon, Ohio. A warm and inviting reception will follow in the undercroft, gathering all those whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Pat's enduring spirit and the love he shared with so many. Let us come together to reflect on his life, share our cherished memories, and celebrate the joy he brought to our lives.
