Charles D. Hunt "Charlie", 82, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully in Bradenton, Florida, at Manatee Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family, on March 22, 2025.
Charlie was born on April 28, 1942, in Christian County, Illinois, the son of Isaac Hunt and Nellie Rose Engleharrt.
Charlie's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife, Norma Hunt, with whom he enjoyed over 58 years of marriage.
For 33 years, Charlie dedicated his professional life to A.E. Staley., where his hard work and handy skills were greatly valued. He was a man that could fix almost anything and was always eager to share his abilities.
Charlie was an avid dirt car racing fan, a hobby that led him and family traveling across the states to indulge in the thrill of the race and enjoy the roar of engines. These trips were especially exciting when they included the grandchildren. Throughout his life Charlie not only created memories but also taught his loved ones the importance of hard work while embracing life's journey.
Surviving is his wife Norma Hunt, children,-Charles Hunt (Barb), Charla Padgett (Sidney), David Hunt, Jeff Hunt and Lori Brown, grandchildren-Rachel, Lexi, Trevor, Alex, Matthew, and Dalton-and his great-granddaughter, Kayli. Each of them benefitted from his wisdom, his playful spirit, and the adventures they shared.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and one sister.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made in Charlie's memory to Family of God United Methodist Church 5601 16th Avenue East Palmetto, Florida 34221.
