CHARLES KELLEY

KELLEY, Charles Hancock, 87, of Crewe, Va., passed away March 10, 2012. Charles was born December 20, 1924, the tenth child to Samuel L. Kelley and Mattie Lee Kelley. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 1952, where he played football four years. After finishing college he married Clara Oliver. Mr. Kelley's career involved working in the oil industry for Mobil Oil, Occidental Petroleum, Texas Energy and Shell Corporation in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his son, Kevin D. Kelley and wife, Debra, of Houston, Texas; and daughter Barbara K. Hall and husband, David, of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Kristin, Kelley and Katherine; many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home in Crewe, Va., on Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m. Burial to follow, at Crewe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crewe Baptist Church, Crewe, Va., the University of Richmond Athletic Association.
