Charles Kinard Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 8, 2024.
On the evening of April 4, 2024, Charles (Chuck) Kinard passed away and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was 67.
Chuck was born and lived in Jacksonville, Florida. He went to Paxon High School. His parents were Charles Jr., and Connie Jean Kinard, and he had a sister, Wanda Radmore, who passed several years ago, along with his nephew, Curtis McCabe.
Chuck married his beloved wife, Laura Lee Silvernail Kinard on December 30, 1977 and they lived happily together for 46 years. They had 2 sons by birth, Ian Jacob Kinard and Joshua David Kinard. Ian grew up to inherit his Dad's passionate nature for others, and could "run like the wind". Joshua married Melissa Montgomery Kinard and they have two beautiful daughters; Mariah Ann Kinard and Maleah Alese Kinard – both softball players, with Mariah soon to attend FL Gateway on a scholarship. Yes, their Dad was their coach.
Chuck also helped raise "3rd sons"; Taiwan, Will, Drew, Curt, Bubba – to name a few. He was always attending football games and other sports activities, cheering on "his sons".
By trade, Chuck was a land surveyor and worked for LD Bradley and Johnson Surveying. He would come home tired from walking miles, killing snakes, or stung by bees. He loved the outdoors. His greatest passion was fishing, and he caught many over the years.
Another passion was riding motorcycles. He was a Harley-Davidson man and even got Lee to ride with him. They enjoyed many trips together – including mission trips to Belize. They also enjoyed going to concerts – from Rock 'n Roll greats to Transiberian Orchestra Christmas concerts. This passion grew from being a "roadie" for Lynyrd Skynyrd in his teen-age years. Chuck and Ronnie Van Zant played sand lot football with other neighborhood friends and band members.
Chuck was also a great cook. Ask any of the church members who ate his "BBQ ribs" on a Wednesday night!
It took 30 years of praying by Lee for Chuck to become a Christian, and when he did, he was "all in". You can see his testimony on this link: https://youtu.be/XWGbXSkt6iO
Chuck loved others and was a father figure to many. "The love he had for all of us was unmatched," quoted granddaughter, Mariah. He was known for his kindness, acceptance of and encouragement to others, and his faith. Oh, and his big bear hugs too!

Earlier today

Uncle Chuck was one of the anchoring points of my childhood. Almost every weekend, every summer, my family spent time at the lake place with the Kindard's and the Knight's. I cannot think of a core childhood memory that doesn't involve these two families. I still to this day rationalize many of my big decisions but thinking, how would my mom & dad approach this problem ? How would uncle Chuck and Aunt Lee? How would Uncle Duct Daddy and Aunt Pat? He was one of the kindest most understanding human beings I've ever had the privilege of getting to know, and this world lost a bit of twinkle when he passed away .
