Mr. Charles Edward Lairsey, Sr., 82, died Monday (April 30, 2012) at his residence after a long term illness with alzheimer's. He had been bed ridden for four years and was taken care of by his devoted wife and family. He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Lairsey and Hettie Seymore Lairsey; a daughter, Charlotte Lairsey; a son, Ronald Lairsey; three brothers, Wilcox Lairsey, Junior Lairsey, Clarence Lairsey; and two sisters, Annie Lairsey Chaffin and Lucille Lairsey Carter. He was retired owner of C.E. Lairsey Plumbing Company and served in the United States Army. He was a member of Gilchrist Park United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia "Patsy" Lairsey of Waycross; two daughters, Judy McGahee (husband Greg, Sr.) and Debbie Lairsey Snellgrove both of Waycross; four sons, C. E. "Eddie" Lairsey, Jr. (wife Laverne), Jerry Lairsey and Bill Lairsey all of Waycross, Dr. John Lairsey (wife Collie) of Folkston; nine grandchildren, Clark Lairsey (wife Lauren), Brooke Knight (husband Danny), Josh Lairsey, Kelsey McGahee, Greg McGahee, Jr., Meagan Lairsey, Mallory Lairsey, Stacy Williams, Ginger Oxford (husband Matt); six great grandchildren, two beloved children, Jolene Quick (husband Doug) of Waycross, Chance Chaney (wife Juli) of Valdosta; a brother, Quincy Lairsey of Brunswick; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 2, 2012) at Gilchrist Park United Methodist Church. Burial will be in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Tuesday night from 6 until 8. The family request memorials to be given to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
