Died: May 14, 2022 in Spring Valley, IL
Charles A. Lavens, 81, of Cedar Point, took his final flight to rest in his Heavenly Father's arms on Saturday, May 14, 2022.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby with Chaplain Rick Hillenbrand, officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of services Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lavens was born on June 23, 1940 in LaSalle to Henry and Louise (RuoRock) Lavens. He married Arlene Zibert on November 17, 1962 at St. Anthony's Church, Spring Valley. Mr. Lavens was a member of the Illinois Valley Headers and the president of Future Farmers of America in high school. He was very passionate about aviation and flew, built, and sold helicopters. Mr. Lavens ran both a dairy farm and has been a lifelong grain farmer. He received numerous patents for farming equipment innovations.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene of Cedar Point; four children, Rich (Connie) Lavens of Milan, Lora (Robert) Wicks of Peru, Suzanne (Scott) Grosenbach, and Burton (Erin) Lavens both of Oglesby; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren with one on the way; one sister, Mary Lou Boyd of Grand Ridge; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Bill Boyd Sr.

Chuck was a great man! We had a lot of fun in High School! Didn´t get to see him that much in our later years! He will be sadly missed! Our sympathy to his wife and family!
