Charles J. Lester Jr., a steadfast figure and devoted family man, passed away on July 25, 2025, in Marion, Indiana. Born on June 23, 1952, in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Charles lived a life marked by determination, love, and passion for the outdoors. As a foreman with Custom Touch Irrigation, he dedicated himself to his work, bringing both skill and leadership to the projects he oversaw. His hands, roughened from years of labor, crafted not only landscapes but also a legacy that will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and colleagues alike. Education played a vital role in shaping Charles.
He was an alumnus of Oak Hill High School and spent formative years at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana, where he demonstrated his commitment to discipline and camaraderie as a member of the Black Horse Troop. He was known for his keen eye for collecting arrowheads, a hobby that echoed his respect for history and craftsmanship. Additionally, Charles was a self-taught carpenter whose skills allowed him to build furniture that became treasured pieces within his family, leaving behind a tangible testament to his creativity and industrious spirit.
Family was everything to Charles. He shared a profound bond with his granddaughter, Emma, a connection filled with joy and laughter. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Lester, with whom he married on July 11, 1981, along with their children: Laura Millspaugh, Andrea (Nolan) Rademaker and Jason (Sierra) Lester. His legacy continues through his thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who carry forth the lessons of love, resilience, and hard work he instilled in them. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. (Winifred) Lester Sr., and siblings Bob Lester and Sandy Arbogast.
