Charles Lewis

Charles Lewis, 70, of Bloomfield, CT, born on July 26, 1955, peacefully departed this life surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
Educated in the Hartford Public School system, Charles was a proud 1973 graduate of Weaver High School. Though reserved by nature, Charles was deeply compassionate and dedicated to the well-being of others. He encouraged young people to reach their fullest potential and was willing to lend a helping hand-whether by offering transportation to appointments, church services, or shopping trips.
Charles began his professional career with Fleet Bank, where he was employed as a courier. Guided by his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, he went on to establish his own business, CL Express Courier Services, LLC. Later, he became an independent contractor for NEXT Courier Services, a role he proudly held for more than twenty-six years. Although a private individual and self-described "workaholic", Charles always took time to share his wisdom, inspiring others to embrace the rewards and independence of entrepreneurship.
Charles was a man of many interests and talents. He was a gifted artist, an avid reader, an enthusiastic podcast listener, and lifelong yoga enthusiast. He loved watching boxing matches and documentaries and enjoyed engaging in spirited debate about worldviews-or simply any topic that piqued his curiosity. His intellect, humor, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He leaves to mourn his passing a son, Jermaine Lugo, Rocky Hill, CT; a daughter, Takia Lugo (Kareem) of Manchester, CT; 2 grandchildren, Kareem Jr. and Tania; 3 sisters: Ruth Tucker, Windsor, CT, Delores Shepard (Pastor Rufus) Bloomfield, CT, and Rev. Ethel Lewis, Bloomfield, CT; 3 nieces: Robin Lewis, Charlene Gamble (Justin), and Dr. Cassandra Shepard, all of Bloomfield, CT; along with a host of cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eula (Dickson) and Eddie Lewis, Sr.; brother, Eddie, Jr., and nephews, Lonald Lewis and Varnie Tucker, Jr.
