Nancy Gubbins Michels, 83, died on October 25, 2025 after courageously battling a series of illnesses. Nancy was born on June 28, 1942 to Robert Michael and Ann Hoye Gubbins who were lifelong Connecticut residents.
In her early years, Nancy grew up in Hartford and initially attended Weaver High School. Later, she and her family moved to East Granby, CT. She continued her high school education and graduated from Granby High School, Granby, CT. She matriculated to the University of Hartford and earned her Associate in Science in Business Administration Degree. After college, Nancy worked at Royal Typewriter and Underwood in Hartford, Kaman in Bloomfield, and Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks. The majority of her professional career was at United Technologies Research Center as an Administrative Assistant. While she was at United Technologies she met her future husband, Dr. H. Harvey Michels. They married on October 24, 1975 and shared their love and devotion for over 49 years. They both enjoyed travel through the USA and to other countries, which enriched their lives in so many ways. Nancy's reflections on Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Hawaii, England, Ireland, Australia, among many others were always positive. Family travel throughout the country with her husband and stepsons were adventures she always cherished so much.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband, H. Harvey Michels. Nancy leaves her stepsons: Jonathan Michels and William Michels and his partner, Alice Marsh. She also leaves her sister, Elizabeth Jean Gubbins of South Glastonbury.
Nancy had a special place in her heart for Harvey's sister, Adelle Michels Parsons Bedrossian of Pennsylvania who predeceased her, as well as Adelle's children, their spouses, and Adelle's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private burial will occur at Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford.
