Timothy Gerald Hooks, affectionately known as Tim, 59, of Enfield, CT, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center, in Springfield, MA, after a brief illness. Tim, the youngest of seven children, was born July 16, 1966, in Hartford, CT to the late John and Bettie Hooks. Tim attended Weaver High School. Tim began his career as a correctional officer and security guard. He later attended the American Academy of Professional Coders, becoming a Certified Professional Coder. He dedicated much of his career to the Massachusetts State Medical Hospital System. Over the course of ten years, he served with precision, discipline, and pride. Tim was admired for his professionalism and meticulous attention to detail. Tim also worked for Branford Hall Career Institute in Windsor, CT, where he taught coding and billing.
Standing at 6'8", Tim was truly a gentle giant with a tall, commanding presence balanced by a calm, humble spirit. Though a man of few words, when he spoke, his insight and humor filled the room. His quick wit, dry sarcasm, and steady demeanor made him both respected and deeply loved by all who knew him. Beyond his work, Tim's greatest joy was his family, and he embraced making lasting memories with those closest to him, rarely missing a cookout, card game, or gathering. He cherished the bond he shared with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and especially his daughter, Nicole Hooks, who was his pride and joy. Tim lived a life marked by quiet strength, integrity, and devotion to family.
Tim was a kind and generous father to his beloved daughter Nicole. He didn't just talk about love, he showed it, as he was supportive, encouraging, and believed in her dreams. Tim was her confidant and protector. He taught her the values of discipline, commitment, and hard work.
Tim was incredibly intelligent, and loved watching jeopardy, and would often get every question correct. He also enjoyed watching movies and documentaries on history and would go fishing as often as he could. Tim enjoyed most sports; his favorite football and soccer teams were the Cowboys and Liverpool F.C.
Tim was a beautiful soul inside and out and his passing will leave a permanent ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Along with his beloved daughter Nicole, Tim leaves to celebrate his memory his sisters, Bettie Jackson and her husband Allen, III, Alice Pope, and Johnese Rodgers; his brothers, Ronald and Henry Hooks, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Eddie Pope.
