Bonnie Burns Obituary

Bonnie Marion Burns
Bonnie Marion Burns loved her life and lived it to the fullest. She passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on October 19, 2025, at age 82, following a courageous battle with blood cancer.
Born in New Haven on November 30, 1942, to Doris Meloy and William Bernard Burns, she grew up in Hartford's North End and graduated from Weaver High School in 1960. Bonnie worked for over 45 years with the Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET), traveling nationwide to train clients on new phone systems.
In retirement, she enjoyed needlepoint, travel, boating, birding, and cooking for family gatherings. She created museum-quality needlepoint pieces and formed lasting friendships, especially with Linda Lee and Pam Hawes.
She is survived by her brothers, Tom Burns (wife Victoria) and Andy Burns; nieces and nephews, Abigail, William, Eric (wife, Jaimie, children, Madison and Jackson), and Scott (wife, Meghan, children, Liam and Cameron). She was predeceased by her brother, William Burns.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 55 New Park Avenue, Hartford, on Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 p.m., and can be live streamed at youtube.com/@GraceEpiscopalHartford. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Smilow Cancer Center and Connecticut Hospice for their care and compassion.

Worked with Bonnie for many years at Southern New England Telephone Company. She was always professional, knowledgeable, and smiling. It was a pleasure getting to know her and spend time with her. We participated together in a few group luncheons after retirement. My sincere condolences to Bonnie's family and close friends. Rest in peace Bonnie as you have found your eternal home.
