Charles Lindner Obituary

CHARLES RICHARD LINDNER
April 13, 1928 ˜ September 16, 2023

Charles R. Lindner, 95, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Sept. 16, 2023. His battle with serious medical issues over the years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Charlie came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Charlie was the second son born to Charles and Frances Lindner, April 13, 1928, in Portland, OR. Charlie graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Lewis and Clark College and the University of Oregon. He married Josephine Ellen “Jo” Lindner in 1950 and resided in Vancouver for 30 years before traveling the country, eventually settling at Crooked River Ranch, OR.

Charlie retired at an early age, and they took advantage of many outdoor activities in the Willamette Valley. Charlie and Jo’s love of the Columbia River prompted them to join the Columbia River Yacht Club. From there, Charlie and Jo became part of the Lance camping group and pulled a fifth wheel trailer to Arizona each winter. They took many camping trips with their friends in Central Oregon and traveled the world, including trips to Hawaii, Mexico, cruises to Panama and Alaska, and a memorable trip to Europe.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years; and is survived by Larry (Jan) of Meridian, ID, Coe (Eileen) of Lake Tapps, WA, Bob (Linda) of Suffolk, VA, and Jack (Melinda) of Ridgefield, WA. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Cogir of Glenwood Place and PeaceHealth Hospice for the outpouring of love, care and support they gave to Charlie.

A private service will be held at Windy Hills Winery on Oct. 21, 2023. Instead of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your local humane society.

We called him Uncle Charlie. Many memories. Vacations camping, beach trips. Charlie and Jo were very special people. Such a huge part of my growing up. My love to Larry, Bob, Coe and Jack and their families.
