With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Charles Luckert III, a devoted son, sibling, father, and esteemed citizen of Grand Prairie. Born on June 18, 1956 in Midland, TX, Charles was the youngest of six siblings and spent his formative years in the vibrant community that he would later serve with unwavering dedication.
A man of integrity and altruism, Charles retired from the Dallas Morning News after 30 years, where he was Regional Manager for Grand Prairie and Denton. He then dedicated his life to the betterment of Grand Prairie, earning him the distinguished honor of Volunteer of the Year in 2021 and Citizen of the Year in 2023. His commitment to his community was unwavering, as he passionately captured its essence as the editor and photographer of "Grand Prairie at a Glance." Many of his photos were displayed across the city.
An individual with a philanthropic spirit, Charles selflessly devoted his time to various charities and the Chamber of Commerce, leaving an indelible mark on all those he encountered. His passion for historical events was palpable, a reflection of his deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of Grand Prairie's past.
Having graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 1974, Charles remained a steadfast pillar of the community, contributing endlessly to its growth and prosperity. He resided in Grand Prairie since the tender age of 2, embracing the town as his own and becoming an integral part of its fabric.
Charles will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Community Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Let us gather together to honor the life and legacy of a remarkable individual who touched so many hearts and souls throughout his time on this Earth. In our hearts forever, may he rest in peace.
